GHOSTS #1 is in stores now from DC Comics/Vertigo, featuring the short take, “A Bowl of Red” by John McCrea, Andrew Elder and yours truly. The anthology also features work by Geoff Johns and Jeff Lemire, Paul Pope, Gilbert Hernandez, Al Ewing and Rufus Dayglo and more…including the last sequential work created by the late, great Joe Kubert before his passing. If you have a chance, please run to your local comic shop, grab a copy, and keep me warm in this post-apocalyptic powerless wasteland with your glowing reviews.
Already posted glowing reviews?
Here’s one from IGN that says “$8 is a lot to ask for any comic, but Ghosts offers a wealth of content, and quality content at that.”
Bloody Disgusting says “”The most visually disturbing short tale in the collection is Neil Kleid/John McCrea’s ‘A Bowl of Red.’ “ I’ll take it!
And finally, for now, Paste Magazine writes that “the best short here, though, is a demonic lark about evil, soul-stealing chili by Neil Kleid and John McCrea. It’s an absurd premise treated with utmost sincerity by its creators.”
High praise! Go on out and try GHOSTS #1 for yourself!

Wrote and drew this for HEEB Magazine a few years back; Chris Sinderson colored it. Would that I did this kind of thing more often.

» Wednesday is the new Sunday: Topps Huddle is live!

I’ve been working on this since Labor Day, which is why I haven’t posted much, but I’m thrilled to say that Topps HUDDLE is finally live!

HUDDLE blends the ease-of-use of a casual social game with the real-time, real-world action of fantasy football. Declare your football allegiance, collect and trade NFL players, and earn points based on their performance. HUDDLE allows fans to stay more connected with football through rewards and achievements.

I’ve been art directing HUDDLE for the last two months, and gave it a 1970’s Monday Night Football look/feel that captures the low-production quality, phosphorous and glowing experience of the early MNF broadcasts. Please download HUDDLE to your iPhone, add me to your friends leaderboard (my fan name is FREEHAND) and shout out to me on the News feed!

Are you ready for some HUDDLE? Get in the GAME!

OH MY LORD I AM WEARING MY HAT BACKWARDS BECAUSE I AM AN EDGY COMIC BOOKER

Ten years. Holy crap. Ten years since I sold BROWNSVILLE, won a Xeric Grant for NINETY CANDLES, and attended my first SPX. Ten years is a long ass time.

plasticfarm:

So young and innocent. Me, Mal Jones, Neil Kleid, and A. David Lewis from SPX 2003
